Importing from American Express

Amex offers CSV export for all card accounts. Here's how to get your transactions into Sproute.

CSV

Step 1: Export from Amex

  1. 1 Log in to americanexpress.com and go to Statements & Activity
  2. 2 Click "Download your transactions" (usually near the top right of the activity section)
  3. 3 Select the date range and choose CSV format
  4. 4 Click Download

Step 2: Import into Sproute

  1. 1 Open Sproute and navigate to your Amex card
  2. 2 Click Import Transactions and select CSV
  3. 3 Select your downloaded Amex CSV file
  4. 4 Review and confirm the import

Tips

  • Amex CSV files may include extended merchant details — Sproute uses these for better categorization
  • Amex uses positive amounts for charges and negative for credits/payments
  • You can also download from the Amex mobile app under Account > Statements > Download
